A Touch of Teddy - a 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization - seeks to give comfort to families who have experienced pregnancy/infant loss by providing teddy bear ornaments for loss families for the holidays. We give families the opportunity to share their story when requesting a bear - and share these stories on social media so families may find comfort in knowing they are not alone, and saying their baby's name & story aloud. Every story & ever baby matters, no matter how small.
About
A Touch of Teddy is a 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization - founded in honor of Theodore "Teddy" Russell Michalski. Teddy was our firstborn child, who was stillborn in 2018 at 22 weeks gestation. In his memory, we are sending "teddy" bear ornaments to families who have experienced pregnancy/infant loss, free of charge, beginning in the month of October - 2023. Our efforts are all donation based.
Ornament Request Form
Please note - we are no longer accepting FREE ornament requests for 2023. All requests require a small donation of $7 to be sent which covers the costs & shipping. The free form will reopen October 2024.
In the month of October, loss bear ornaments are FREE for families who've experience pregnancy/infant loss. Free ornaments are to be ordered by the loss family only, one free bear per family. Our form will close once we have reached the max cap we can afford to send. You may request a bear to be gifted to a loved one - at a small fee to cover costs, to ensure this program remains free for the main purpose it began for. All donations are tax deductible as we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit - and all donations go right back into the program. We are currently shipping in the US only.
Frequently Asked Questions
When are the teddy bear ornaments being sent out?
The FREE Teddy bear ornaments will be sent out in the month of October every year. October is not only the month of Teddy's birthday, but also Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month. Sending bears out in October allows us to ensure they arrive for the holidays. However, bears can be sent prior to October for a small donation to cover shipping & material costs. This ensures our program will remain free for loss families come October. Free bears can only be requested by the loss parents.
Is there a cost?
Loss bears are FREE for families who have experienced pregnancy/infant loss during the month of October. If you would like to send a bear to someone who has experienced a loss, or if you are requesting your bear prior to October, we ask that you make a small donation, to cover the cost of a bear, so we can ensure loss families are receiving them for free. We do accept donations, and if you'd like to donate to help send bears to more families, that would be very much appreciated, but for loss parents it is not required during the giveaway month.
Can I request more than one bear?
At this time, we are sending one FREE bear ornament per family during October, as we want to reach as many families as we can to provide them a small token to remember their baby by. However, please feel free to contact us if you are interested in multiple bears.
What colors are available?
Our teddy bear ornaments come in white, pink and blue.
How many bears are being sent?
We are solely donation based, so the more donations we receive, the more bears we can send. Our order form will close when we've reached the maximum amount of requests, and will reopen if funds to send more bears become available. We are thankful for the families who decide to pay it forward - which helps cover the cost of another bear!
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes! A Touch of Teddy is a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization - all donations are tax deductible!
